Instruction & empowerment

lecture and teach nationally at workshops and conferences, and I offer online courses to a global audience. My articles about the writing life have been featured in multiple editions of Poet’s MarketWriter’s Market, Guide to Self-Publishing, and Writer’s Digest magazine. Trained as a Falling Awake life coach in 2004, I empower writers and divorcing parents to articulate and achieve what they want in their lives, families, work, and world.

Sage Communications

Since founding Sage Communications 1997, I have been writing the words and crafting the strategies that accelerate business. As creative director, strategic marketer, brand champion and word whisperer, I partner with companies including Blue Shield, American Express, McKesson, and Xerox to make meaningful connections through high-impact stories. How can I help you?

Radical Divorce

I made my divorce in 2011 the healing opportunity of a lifetime. Now I offer information, support and experiences at Radical Divorce to help other divorcing parents move from grief to growth—so the whole family can thrive.

Education

I am a graduate of Brown University and the Creative Writing Program at New York University where I was awarded a full fellowship. I believe the real learning laboratory is life.

Accolades

I have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, won first prize in the Ghost Road Press poetry contest, placed high in the Writer’s Digest 15th Annual Short Short Short Story Competition, granted a Soapstone residency, and sought out to judge a number of literary contests including for the Oregon Poetry Association and Writer’s Digest.

Underbelly

My laugh is loud, and my inquiries are deep. I love to eat sushi, assign meaning to experiences, hike in the forest, have deep conversations with friends, adore my child and animals, read and dance and drum and paint. I have a remarkable life partner, a fabulous co-parent, an invigorating writing community, and a cozy home in Portland, Oregon where I live with a muse menagerie of elderly animals and a precocious second grader.
